Incorruptible: Why Good Companies Go Bad…

and How Great Companies Stay Great

Available for pre-order at incorruptible.co

I’ve been out and about these last few weeks for the first Incorruptible events. Every one has been so fun and inspiring. Huge thanks to the organizers who put them together and made sure the rooms were full of energy and engagement – and of course to my fantastic conversation partners!

Talking about the book’s ideas and mechanisms in public after spending years thinking about them at my desk has been really invigorating.

A few event highlights

Hosted by Freada Kapor Klein, Ph.D. and Mitch Kapor at the Kapor Center, I did a fireside chat with Alphonzo “Phonz” Terrell, co-founder and CEO of the social media app SPILL. The audience was made up of incredible founders and community members. It was a real honor to have the Mayor of Oakland, Barbara Lee, among them.

The theme of Marin Sonoma Impact Ventures’ 2026 North Bay NEXT conference was “Build to Last”, a perfect match for Incorruptible. I talked with Reed Albergotti, Technology Editor at Semafor, in front of more than 350 entrepreneurs, investors, and other startup leaders.

Manny’s SF is a unique Mission District venue – part community gathering space, part civic engagement forum, ideal for gathering a great crowd. The house was packed for my conversion with organizational psychologist and Stanford professor Bob Sutton. I’m beyond flattered that he called me a “compassionate capitalist” afterwards, but even more so that he called me “the mensch we need right now” – a characterization I try to live up to in all areas of my life.

And now for my most psychedelic event ever: the All People Powered Live Concert & Pitch Contest! More than 700 people filled up the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts in Oakland to watch me and my fellow judges consider pitches from the three finalists of All People Powered’s founder hackathon, hosted by Rhyme Combinator. I’m not sure I’ve ever made an entrance quite as fabulous as this one:

My episode of Lenny’s Podcast is out now!

I’m a long-time fan of Lenny’s Podcast, so I was very excited to be invited onto the show again to talk about Incorruptible. Lenny’s thoughtful, incisive style always makes for a great conversation. We unspooled some of the real-world stories that illustrate the book’s ideas, along with the protective mechanisms it lays out.

To sum it up, I did my best to explain how I back up the advice I always give founders: “Don’t ever be in a situation where you’re rich and miserable.”

The episode drops today, so listen or watch on your favorite channels or here

On the lists

As Incorruptible has started to make its way into the world, I’m thrilled to see it landing on some lists that will hopefully help spread its message far and wide. Most recently, they include: the Thinkers50 Best New Management Books; The Next Big Idea Club’s May Must Reads; and Adam Grant’s list of Spring Nonfiction Must Reads.
