2024 Year End Round-Up

For the Better comes to you bi-weekly with ideas about how and why to build companies focused on human flourishing and stories of the people who are doing it. Other enthusiasms may occasionally appear.
As we race towards the end of 2024, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for engaging with and supporting the two big projects I launched this past May: my podcast, The Eric Ries Show, and this accompanying newsletter, For the Better. Both explore creating a better world for everyone by rethinking the ways we build companies and institutions. I believe that combining purpose and growth to maximize human flourishing is not just possible but the only way forward. Lucky for me, I’m not alone! The podcast has given me a chance to discuss why and how to do this work with people I’ve known and admired for years, as well as many I hadn’t met before and have found truly inspiring. The newsletter has given me a place to share related thoughts on various topics related to this brighter future, including AI, governance, and much more. Each conversation and piece of writing has helped me refine and improve the work I do with founders and organizations pursuing goals designed for the long-term benefit of society. I never cease to be amazed at the energy and ideas people are bringing to the ongoing project of building a more abundant society for everyone, and I’m always honored to be a part of their process and growth. If you’d like to catch up on some of the stories and concepts that have resonated most with listeners and readers, I’ve listed them below. Meanwhile, I wish you a restful holiday season. Hope to see you for continued conversation in the new year. Eric
